The new
Vanpool Quick Start Program is intended to provide
assistance to Santa Barbara county commuters who commit to
organizing a new vanpool. Through the Vanpool Quick Start
Program, Traffic Solutions will pay 50% of your
vanpool's lease the first month and 25% of the lease the
second month.
The
Quick Start subsidy can be used to pay for empty seats when
the van is not full. A van traveling at full capacity
can use the subsidy to reduce the fare each rider pays.
Any way you look at it, the Vanpool Quick Start Program is
designed to appeal to your sense of taste!
As the driver
of a vanpool, you can be sure to enjoy the comfort of a well maintained
vehicle. Vanpool leasing companies maintain the vehicles as part
of your monthly fee! As you drive along the central coast you
can enjoy the finer points of your commute without worry of vehicle
failure. Plus, drivers often enjoy a free commute!
As the passenger
of a vanpool, your commute can become a sensory experience. As
you travel, you are able to enjoy your morning coffee, listen to
music, feel the comfortable interior and appreciate the scenic
coastline because you won't have the stress of the daily
commute. Best of all, you save money.

Vanpooling
works best for long distance commuters who travel at least 40
miles roundtrip. It is an efficient, safe
and reliable alternative to the drive alone commute.
-
Efficiency
- When several commuters are traveling from the same location
to the same location, it becomes most efficient to vanpool.
This alleviates traffic congestion and the release of harmful
emissions into our atmosphere. Most importantly,
vanpooling can reduce your commute time.
-
Safety
- A well maintained vehicle is driven by a qualified individual
who has met the safety requirements to transport passengers.
-
Reliability
- With a set schedule, pickup and drop-off point, commuters
can rest assured that they will arrive to work on time.
The Vanpool
Quick Start Program is intended to reduce vehicle miles
traveled (VMT) in Santa Barbara county. The program is
funded through a Federal Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality
(CMAQ) grant.
